You went into business to make money. But are dirty air ducts making you lose money? According to the U.S. Department of Energy, 25-40% of the energy* used for heating or cooling is wasted because air pollutants require an HVAC system to work harder to heat and cool a facility. By having the experts at Miles's air vent care®remove the buildup of pollutants, your HVAC system will work more efficiently and potentially save you money on heating and cooling costs.

Air Duct Cleaning and Indoor Air Quality
While vacuuming and dusting may be a part of your weekly cleaning routine, these basic methods invariably leave dust and dirt behind, and no amount of regular cleaning can capture every dust mite your home produces. As such, much of that dust and dirt ends up in your air ducts. What's worse is that this same dust continues to recirculate over and over again, with the dust continuing to accumulate inside your ducts even while it's redistributed throughout your home.
This constant cycle of dust accumulation and redistribution can have serious effects on your home's cleanliness and your family's health. Constantly re-circulated allergens will irritate allergy sufferers throughout the year, even when their allergies are not in season (like pollen and weed allergies). Additionally, people with compromised respiratory systems may experience difficulty breathing in homes with high dust quantities. With Miles's Air Duct Cleaning, you can significantly reduce the amount of dust in your air ducts, which can lead to a better indoor air quality throughout your home.
The Air Duct Cleaning Process
Once on the scene, trained Miles's AVC professionals utilize powerful, truck-mounted equipment to clear your air ducts of dust, debris, pet dander, allergens, and grime. This powerful suction equipment essentially vacuums out years of accumulated dust from the air ducts, leaving them clean and clear. Once finished, our technicians remove all equipment and make sure that your ducts and HVAC unit are restored to their former condition.
Air Duct Cleaning & HVAC System Efficiency
Your HVAC unit and air ducts deliver heated or cooled air throughout your home year-in and year-out. The air your HVAC unit produces travels through your air ducts and heats or cools your home through the air vents in each room. The EPA defines the dust and other particles in your home's air as particulate matter, "a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets." The EPA also notes that, "Particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids (such as nitrates and sulfates), organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particle." 2 If you remove your furnace filter and hold it up to the light, you can probably see several hundred of these minuscule particles floating in the air.
While your furnace filter is designed to trap this particulate matter and prevent it from entering your air ducts, often particles still get through. The amount of particles your HVAC filter traps coincides with the quality of air in your home: the lower the quality of air, the more particles your filter will trap, and the more particles are likely to get through the filter. If these particles are allowed to build up, your HVAC system can become less efficient, having to operate longer to heat or cool your home. An inefficient HVAC system can result in inconsistent heating or cooling, higher utility costs, and expensive HVAC unit repairs (for instance, an A-coil or blower motor) if the problem is left unchecked. Air duct cleaning from Miles's AVC, which focuses on the dirt in your air ducts, can also boost the efficiency of a dirty HVAC system, cleaning out the particulate matter that can hinder HVAC effectiveness.
When lint builds in your dryer vent, it blocks the flow of air from the dryer to the outdoor vent, creating tremendous levels of heat that could lead to a fire. This heat can cause highly flammable particles like lint and clothing to catch fire. By having your dryer vent cleared of any lint or debris, you lessen the likelihood of a fire occurring due to a blocked fire vent.
Dryer Efficiency & Energy Savings
When a dryer cannot ventilate properly, it will negatively affect your home's energy efficiency, the integrity of your clothing, and the operation of the dryer itself. A clogged dryer vent can affect the levels of heat the dryer uses to dry clothes. If clothing is subjected to extreme heat, your clothes, especially your delicates, can be ruined by the higher temperature. Additionally, if the mechanisms of your dryer are subjected to high heat over a prolonged period of time, those mechanisms could fail long before your dryer has reached the end of its service life. By ensuring that your dryer vents remain clear, you safeguard your clothing from damaging high heat and keep your dryer working as it should.
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air quality is an important factor to respiratory health. A clogged dryer vent could negatively impact the indoor air quality of your home if not allowed to ventilate properly. If you have a gas dryer, a clogged dryer vent could cause the release of carbon monoxide. Because ventilation systems tend to run through a lengthy portion of the home, that monoxide leak could place several areas of your home at risk.
